We want art making to be affordable so put a lot of time into selecting the supplies needed for each class. You can see the Basic Supply Kit here. On the rare occassion that other supplies are needed, these are mentioned in the Lesson Guide. 

Throughout each month, we add at least four new classes to our growing library of nearly 200 classes. Members get emails when new content is added!

All Chicken Coop Club classes live in the Chicken Coop Club and are available to you as long as you remain a member! Take them at your own pace (and feel free to take each class multiple times). We want this to fit into your schedule!

Each class has an intro video that describes the project and supplies needed, and a video that if followed start to finish will leave the student with a completed project. Some classes also have a third video with suggested variations - the sky is the limit! There is also a handy accompanying guide for each class to help the involved adult support the student artist. 

We suggest setting aside at least 45 minutes to include watch time, supply gathering, making, and cleanup time.  You know your student’s learning style and speed best.  Full-sized video lessons are generally 10-20 minutes long. We recommend a student watch the complete lesson before beginning the project (and then replay and pause as necessary). But some students will choose to dive right in and that’s okay! Some projects will require drying time overnight and multiple steps that could be extended over multiple days. Each lesson’s accompanying learning guide will help you determine your plan. Many lessons can be started and finished in the same day.

Art Snacks are quick lessons that provide extra information and can be used either as extensions for more art time, or “art on the go” when time is short.

Each of our classes stands on its own and is directed to the student, with clear instructions and loving and encouraging language. Classes can be tackled in any order based on interest, and/or input from supporting adults. Our handy color code and lesson guide .pdf’s will help students and adults determine which classes are appropriate at a given time for a particular student. Most of our classes can be tackled by multiple aged students at the same time and are in this way ideally suited to family artmaking and homeschooling classes.  

Each instructor brings something different to the table in terms of teaching style, but there is one constant. That is, no classes are stroke by stroke or meant to mimic the teacher. If two students take the same class, they will walk away with their own spin on the project and that is by design! We are fostering creativity and artistic skills and want students to explore, play and find their own style!

Classes are geared toward students ages 3 to 12 and are broken into three difficulty levels - mild, medium, and spicy.   We encourage students to explore each level to find the best fit!

If it's in a school or homeschool setting, yes you can and we encourage it! If it's a for-profit event or workshop (where students pay per-person) then no, that's not cool and we encourage you to come up with your own lesson. If you aren't sure, email us and we can clarify - [email protected].

Yes - you can gift a membership for one year! Be sure to click the "Gift" option when checking out. Chicken Coop Club membership makes a terrific gift for a child in your life, but also for a teacher! 

Your first payment is processed the day you register. If you signed up for monthly payments, your account is charged once a month on the date you signed up. (Allow for a few days either way in the event of a holiday or if you signed up on the 31st.)
