Meet the Instructor: Sarah Anne
Apr 22, 2025Hi! I’m Sarah. I am an Art Teacher, wife, mom and a lover of all things colorful and eccentric. Four years ago, teaching art kind of just fell into my lap. I have been teaching since 2009 in various capacities and grade levels but back in 2021 I asked my principal if there were any other available positions for the next school year and he mentioned Art. I immediately said I would take it and the rest is history. My first two years I taught on a cart, teaching 10 classes a day (PK3-8th grade) with half hour classes. Teaching on a cart was intense but it taught me so much (including which shoes not to wear when you spend 7 1/2 hours traversing a school). I started teaching at a new school last year and finally have my own classroom…with a sink! My average class size is 36; I have 40 Kindergarteners and 40 Seventh Graders this year. Sensory overload, who? I will forever be grateful to my old principal who took a chance on me; teaching Art was the last missing puzzle piece in my life.
I have always been what I like to call a “tinkerer” (like Tinkerbell). I love vintage shopping and repurposing items. My home is full of little treasures and oddities that I have found and/or made over the years, each one having its own story. I love to paint (especially with watercolors) and recently taught myself how to knit (still working on getting the hang of crocheting though). I love home decorating and fashion and am most at peace when I am working on a project (whether it is an art project or a home project).
Fun facts: My first job out of college was a morning show co-host for a local radio station. A giraffe once licked my head at a zoo. My go-to coffee order is an Iced Americano black. My favorite season is Winter. I have two Labrador Retrievers; a Chocolate named Ike and a Yellow named Ethel.
