Meet the Instructor: Stacy Spangler
Aug 04, 2022Hey there! I’m Stacy Spangler, and I’m a mixed media artist and art instructor. I have always been a dreamer and a creator. When I was in school, doodles covered all my notebooks, worksheets, hands and probably my desk. I could actually pay attention better, when I was doodling. Growing up, I spent a lot of time drawing with my talented aunt; sewing and cooking with my creative grandmother; crafting with my fun-loving mom; and attending art camp, which was always the highlight of my summers. I loved coloring books, shrinky-dinks, fashion plates and my spirograph.
Fast forward many years later, and my profession in advertising, plus having three children, reignited my love for creating. As a stay-at-home mom, I started teaching other kids art from my home, and eventually went on to teach art at a private school. I always give my students credit for teaching me how to love creating art again. Currently, I teach adults to paint online and at in-person workshops; I sell my artwork all over the world through my website and retail partners; and love creating whimsical, colorful mixed media art, with lots of layers and texture. Encouraging others to find joy in creating and embrace their own style is my passion.
My husband and I have three almost adult daughters, two dogs and a cat. I love to spend time outdoors hiking, kayaking and biking, I enjoy reading, porch-sitting, spending time with friends and family and calling the hogs, “Woo Pig Sooie” (that’s what Razorback fans do).
